About Ra*w

We are young, ambitious & eager to learn

When RA*W was founded in 2012 there were little to no training programs or mentorships for young talent in the advertising industry. That needed to change. Now, five years later, we can proudly say that this has changed tremendously. As we see new initiatives arise every year we can conclude that the industry is increasingly noticing the importance of talent development. 

Meanwhile, RA*W has grown into a large community consisting of 3000+ advertising-, design-, pr- and media talents. With constant curiosity, we look at the wonderful and idiotic things that happen in our industry. We frown upon the traditional approach to a business that should be beyond progressive. By now RA*W has turned into the ultimate creative network of the future, with young talents who are very adaptable and who share their experiences while learning from each other's different disciplines.

The RA*W board members organise the activities in their spare time alongside their (hectic) day jobs. They continue the dialogue between the RA*W Community and the creative industry.

We host educational/informative events, network sessions and highbrow masterclasses.

RA*W exists because we want to bridge the ever-present gap in possibilities for young talent to develop themselves at their agencies. We provide a meal for the hungry youngsters in the creative industry. Every month we host several events; from knowledge sessions with specific themes to Friday after-work drinks for networking to case weekends, better known as RA*W LABs. Interested in joining us at our upcoming events? As a non-profit initiative we organize monthly sessions at various Amsterdam based agencies. Annually we host 24Academy during 24Festival, run a curriculum at the University of Amsterdam (UVA) and collaborate with the young talent programs of VEA and ADCN. Next to this, our service platform 'Agencies of Amsterdam’ offers an overview of the city’s creative landscape.

The Cannes Lions Festival

Since 2013, we annually take a group of young advertising talents to the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, the Mecca of advertising and the place to get an inspiration- and knowledge injection.

Next to attending the festival’s seminars, we also host private sessions with international heroes. Keith Smith (President International TBWA Worldwide), Ian Wharton (Group Creative Director AKQA), Jacco ter Schegget (President OgilvyOne China), Ana Andjelic (Strategy Director Droga5) and Ivan Perez-Armendariz (Chief Digital Officer, CP+B) are just a few of those industry leaders we got face to face with.

Besides being immersed with inspiration, this group of young advertisers also have the job to share their gained knowledge with those who stay at home. We do this through articles, interviews, video content and social content, which can be found here.

Our trip to the Cannes Lions Festival would not be possible without our sponsors JCDecaux, Stichting Tick and Result and all the agencies who support their talent to go on this instructive trip. The 2017 involved agencies are:
